Gudimallam Parasurameswara Temple – India’s Earliest Known Siva Shrine
The Gudimallam Parasurameswara Swamy Temple, located ~21 km southeast of Tirupati, has come back into focus as one of India’s earliest known Siva temples, dating to the 2nd century CE (later Satavahana period). Currently protected by ASI, its most remarkable feature is a 1.6-metre-tall Siva Linga carved from dark brown igneous rock — noted for its unique Urdhvaretah iconography with a finely sculpted human figure of Parasurameswara standing on a crouching dwarf.

AP’s ₹1 Lakh Crore Aerospace & Defence Push – DRDO Hub at Puttaparthi

When Does a Chief Minister Cease to Hold Office? – Constitutional Provisions
This came into focus following election results. Under Article 164(1), the Chief Minister is appointed by the Governor and holds office “during the pleasure of the Governor” — but in practice, the CM can only continue as long as they enjoy the confidence of the Legislative Assembly. Key provisions to know:
Article 172: A State Legislative Assembly’s term is 5 years from its first meeting unless dissolved earlier — after this, the CM and Council of Ministers automatically cease to hold office.
Challenging election results: Under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, results can be challenged in the High Court on grounds of corrupt practices, electoral irregularities, or statutory violations.

UDGAM Portal – 30 Banks Integrated, Helping Trace Unclaimed Deposits
The RBI informed the Supreme Court that 30 banks are now integrated with the UDGAM portal — a centralised web platform enabling individuals to search for unclaimed deposits and dormant accounts of deceased account holders across participating banks. The 30 banks account for nearly 90% of funds held in the Depositors’ Education and Awareness Fund (DEAF), created by RBI in 2014. As of April 2026: ~20 lakh registered users and ~44 lakh searches. Mission Drishti is the world’s first OptoSAR satellite — it integrates both Electro-Optical (EO) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) sensors into a single operational platform. EO sensors work in visible light; SAR penetrates clouds and works day or night. Combining both in one satellite is a breakthrough in Earth observation capability.
Hantavirus Outbreak – MV Hondius Cruise Ship, Cape Verde
The MV Hondius cruise ship (~150 passengers) was stranded off Cape Verde following a Hantavirus outbreak that reportedly claimed three lives. Hantavirus is a zoonotic viral disease primarily transmitted through contact with infected rodents, their urine, droppings, or saliva. In rare cases, the Andes hantavirus strain can spread person-to-person. There is no specific vaccine or cure — treatment is supportive.
