The affected satellites use Swiss-made SpectraTime rubidium atomic clocks. ISRO is working on developing indigenous rubidium atomic clocks — already integrated in the newer NVS-01 satellite — to reduce dependence on foreign technology.
India’s First Orbital Data Centre Satellite ‘Pathfinder’ to Launch in 2026
Pixxel has partnered with Sarvam to launch ‘Pathfinder’ — India’s first orbital data centre satellite — a 200 kg class satellite scheduled for late 2026. It will carry data-centre-class GPUs and Pixxel’s hyperspectral imaging camera. An orbital data centre is a satellite-based computing system that trains and runs AI models in space — processing data in orbit and transmitting only final insights to ground stations, rather than raw data. The mission will test whether ground-grade computing hardware can survive low Earth orbit challenges: heat dissipation, radiation, and power storage.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) launched India’s first block-level monsoon forecast system ahead of the 2026 southwest monsoon season.
