Country Strategic Opportunities Programme (COSOP) 2026–2033

The Government of India and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) launched a new Country Strategic Opportunities Programme (COSOP) 2026–2033 aimed at strengthening the rural economy, enhancing rural incomes, and promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The programme was launched during the IFAD–India Partnership for Rural Prosperity event held at Bharat Mandapam.

The eight-year strategy is aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 and focuses on two major priorities:

  • Strengthening knowledge systems to scale successful rural development models across India and countries of the Global South.
  • Enhancing the social, economic, and climate resilience of rural communities.

Bharat Maritime Insurance Pool (BMIP)

The Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance launched the Bharat Maritime Insurance Pool (BMIP) with a total coverage capacity of USD 1.5 billion. General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) has been appointed as the Maritime Insurance Pool administrator.

The initiative has been introduced with a sovereign guarantee of USD 1.4 billion (₹12,980 crore) to ensure uninterrupted maritime insurance coverage amid current geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

The BMIP covers major maritime risks, including:

  • Hull and Machinery
  • Cargo insurance
  • Protection and Indemnity (P&I)
  • War risk insurance

The coverage applies to Indian-flagged or Indian-controlled vessels and ships operating to or from India.

Supreme Court launches ‘One Case One Data’ and AI chatbot ‘Su Sahay’

Supreme Court of India has launched two major digital initiatives aimed at strengthening judicial administration and improving access to justice.

Surya Kant announced the launch of “One Case One Data”, a unified digital mechanism designed to integrate judicial administration from taluk courts to the Supreme Court into a single interconnected system.

The Chief Justice also launched “Su Sahay”, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot integrated with the Supreme Court website.

National Conference on EV Charging Infrastructure under PM E-DRIVE Scheme

The Ministry of Heavy Industries organised a National Conference on “Enabling Nationwide EV Charging Infrastructure under PM E-DRIVE Scheme” on May 12, 2026, in Bengaluru. Under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, the Government has approved a total outlay of ₹10,900 crore for promoting electric mobility and EV ecosystem development.

National Florence Nightingale Awards 2026

The President of India presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2026 to nursing personnel on the occasion of International Nurses Day at Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 12, 2026.
