Cabinet Approves Central Government Office Complex in Amaravati

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of the Central Government General Pool Office Accommodation (CGGPOA) in Amaravati.

• The project will be constructed in the new capital city of Amaravati, located in the Greenfield area.
• It aims to bring various Central Government offices under one roof to improve administrative efficiency and inter-departmental coordination.
• The facility is designed to accommodate approximately 8,000 Central Government employees.

• Funding will be provided entirely by the Government of India.

Centre Announces Interim Allocation for VB-G RAM G Scheme

Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced an interim allocation of ₹95,962 crore for the newly introduced Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin (VB-G RAM G), which will replace the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

Highlights

• The Centre has allocated ₹95,962 crore as its share for the scheme.
• Most States will contribute an additional 40%, taking the total outlay to approximately ₹1.25 lakh crore.
• The allocation aims to ensure a seamless transition from MGNREGS to VB-G RAM G without disruption in employment opportunities.
• The scheme is expected to have a greater focus on economically weaker States.
• The final allocation formula is likely to be based on the 16th Finance Commission’s horizontal devolution formula.
• The final rules and distribution formula are expected to be notified on 1 July 2026.

• Bihar – ₹6,715.83 crore

Implementation Status

• 26 States have completed procedural requirements for implementation.
• Jharkhand, Karnataka, Telangana, and Mizoram are yet to complete all formalities.

14-protein signature

A multinational research team led by the Francis Crick Institute has identified a set of 14 blood plasma proteins, known as the “14-protein signature”, that can predict the risk of developing lung cancer several years before diagnosis.

Highlights

• Researchers analyzed data from the UK Biobank using machine-learning techniques.
• The study identified 14 plasma proteins strongly associated with future lung cancer development.
• The model successfully predicted more than 75% of lung cancer cases with a median diagnosis lead time of 5.1 years.
• The protein signature was validated across multiple datasets, including lifelong non-smokers.

64th Session of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB64)

India has called for urgent action to address the shrinking pool of climate finance and the growing adaptation finance gap during the 64th Session of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB64) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) being held in Bonn, Germany.

• The Bonn Climate Conference (SB64) is being held from 8–18 June 2026.
• India urged that provisions of the Paris Agreement requiring developed countries to provide financial support to developing nations be given dedicated attention.

  • Preservation of the non-prescriptive nature of climate mitigation efforts.
