BRO’s Project Chetak Celebrates 47th Raising Day

Project Chetak of the Border Roads Organisation celebrated its 47th Raising Day on April 4, 2026, at Bikaner, Rajasthan. The Project Chetak was established in 1980 and it operates in Rajasthan, Punjab and Northern Gujarat. It’s main objective is to support defence forces by maintaining roads near the international border. It maintains over 4000 km of ditch-cum-bund.

Sadhana Saptah 2026

The Government of India is organising Sadhana Saptah 2026 from April 2 to April 8, 2026 as a major national initiative to enhance capacity building in civil services and promote citizen-centric governance. Theme of the Sadhana Saptah 2026 is “Ham Bane Karmyogi. This was organised under Mission Karmayogi platform.

About Mission Karmayogi:

Mission Karmayogi, also known as the National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building (NPCSCB), was launched in September 2020 by the Government of India to transform the civil services into a future-ready, citizen-centric, and efficient workforce.

Yuva Sangam Phase-VI

The Government of India is implementing Yuva Sangam Phase-VI (2026) under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative to promote youth exchange and experiential learning across States and Union Territories.

Zool Festival Celebrated in Jammu & Kashmir

The Zool Festival, a centuries-old Sufi tradition, was celebrated on April 2, 2026 at the Aishmuqam shrine in Anantnag district of Jammu & Kashmir. This festival is dedicated to Baba Zain-ud-Din-Wali, a disciple of Sheik Noor-ud-Din Wali. This festival is also known as the “Torch Festival” or “Illumination Festival”.

Battle of Vizagapatnam (1804)

The Battle of Vizagapatnam (September 1804) was a significant naval engagement fought off the coast of present-day Visakhapatnam during the global Napoleonic Wars.

The battle took place between British East India Company forces and French Naval Forces. At the time, both powers were competing for dominance over Indian Ocean trade routes.

What Happened?

  • French warships attacked British merchant ships anchored near the Vizagapatnam coast (roadstead).
  • However, it highlighted the vulnerability of trade routes
  • The British naval escort resisted the attack
  • The engagement remained limited in scale

India Commissions Third Nuclear Submarine INS Aridhaman (S4)

India has strengthened its strategic defence capability with the commissioning of INS Aridhaman (S4), the third nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) of the Arihant-class.

Key Highlights:

The submarine was commissioned in Visakhapatnam in the presence of Rajnath Singh as part of India’s Strategic Forces Command.

Nuclear Triad: India now has the capability to launch nuclear weapons from Land, Air and Sea.

Programme Background:

  • Developed under Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) Project
  • Built at Ship Building Centre (SBC), Visakhapatnam
