During the ceremony, the Union Minister released a special \u20b9200 commemorative coin in honour of Rani Chennamma of Kittur, one of India\u2019s earliest freedom fighters who defied British rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rani Chennamma\u2019s Victory at Kittur<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rani Chennamma of Kittur was one of India\u2019s first female freedom fighters who rebelled against British colonial rule in 1824, almost 33 years before the First War of Independence (1857).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>She was the Queen of Kittur (in present-day Karnataka).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The revolt was sparked when the British East India Company tried to annex Kittur under the Doctrine of Lapse, following the death of her adopted son.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rani Chennamma refused to accept British dominance and led her army against them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The first battle (October 1824) saw the Kittur forces defeating the British, killing Collector St John Thackeray.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, the British later regrouped, captured Kittur, and imprisoned Rani Chennamma in Bailhongal Fort, where she died in 1829.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"icgs-ajit-and-icgs-aparajit\"><strong>ICGS Ajit and ICGS Aparajit<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) launched two Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) \u2014 ICGS Ajit and ICGS Aparajit \u2014 at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) on October 24, 2025. These are the 7th and 8th vessels in a series of eight indigenously built FPVs by GSL. The ships are designed for multi-mission roles such as coastal patrol, anti-smuggling, anti-piracy, fisheries protection, and search &amp; rescue operations within India\u2019s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"mahe-first-anti-submarine-warfare-shallow-water-craft-asw-swc\"><strong>\u2018Mahe\u2019 \u2013 First Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Mahe\u2019, the first of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW SWC), was delivered to the Indian Navy by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Kochi on 23 October 2025. The vessel is named after the historic port town \u2018Mahe\u2019 in the Union Territory of Puducherry, symbolising India\u2019s maritime heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"new-helpline-number-for-poshan-and-pmmvy\"><strong>New Helpline Number for POSHAN and PMMVY<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) has announced a new helpline number \u2013 1515 for POSHAN and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
