Ministry of Civil Aviation Celebrates 9th Anniversary of UDAN Scheme
- The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) celebrated the 9th anniversary of the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme on 21st October 2025 in New Delhi.
- Launched on 21st October 2016 under the National Civil Aviation Policy, UDAN aims to make air travel affordable and accessible to common citizens.
- The first UDAN flight was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 27th April 2017 between Shimla and Delhi.
- So far, 649 routes have been operationalised, connecting 93 underserved airports, including 15 heliports and 2 water aerodromes, serving 1.56 crore passengers through 3.23 lakh flights.
- The government has disbursed ₹4,300 crore as Viability Gap Funding (VGF) and invested ₹4,638 crore in airport infrastructure under the scheme.
- Recent developments include the launch of UDAN 5.5 and new guidelines for seaplane operations (August 2024).
Black Holes and Cosmic Jets are regulating Galaxy Evolution
- A study by astronomers at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), has revealed that supermassive black holes and their cosmic jets play a crucial role in controlling galaxies by suppressing star formation in their central regions.
- The study found that both radiation from the black hole and radio jets streams of relativistic particles work together to eject gas from galactic centers.
- This phenomenon, known as negative AGN feedback, prevents new stars from forming and regulates galactic growth.

Andhra Pradesh Approves ₹22,002-Crore Incentive Package for Raiden Data Centre Project
In a major step toward boosting Andhra Pradesh’s digital infrastructure, the State Government has approved a ₹22,002-crore incentive package and allotted 480 acres of land to Raiden Infotech India Pvt. Ltd. to set up AI-enabled data centres worth ₹87,520 crore across Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts.
