Objectives of the NAVYA Scheme

  1. Provide demand-driven vocational training

    • Also includes traditional sectors like healthcare and crafts.
  2. Ensure holistic development
    • Modules on health, hygiene, nutrition, financial literacy, life skills, and legal awareness.
    • Builds resilience and employability among adolescent girls.
  3. Promote employability & entrepreneurship
    • Forward linkages through internships, apprenticeships, and self-employment opportunities.
    • Mentorship support for entrepreneurship and skill-based businesses.
  4. Strengthen gender-inclusive skilling
    • Female-friendly training environments with stipends and flexible schedules.
    • Encourages girls to enter male-dominated fields like cybersecurity and drone technology.
  5. Bridge the education-livelihood gap
    • Focus on girls in Aspirational and North-Eastern districts.
    • Certifications and job placements designed to ensure sustainable livelihoods.

Supplementary Training Module (7 Hours)

The NAVYA Scheme also includes a 7-hour training module covering essential interpersonal and life skills:

  • Interpersonal Skills: Hygiene, self-presentation, conflict management
  • Communication Skills: Active listening, effective workplace communication
  • Workplace Safety: Awareness of POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act) and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act)
  • Financial Literacy: Budgeting, earnings management, savings, and basic financial planning
