Asia’s Earliest Thorny Bamboo Fossil in Manipur

Researchers from the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP), under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), have discovered a 37,000-year-old fossil bamboo stem in the Chirang River, Imphal Valley (Manipur). Tex RAMPS Scheme

The Government has approved the Textiles Focused Research, Assessment, Monitoring, Planning and Start-up (Tex-RAMPS) Scheme to strengthen research, innovation, data systems, and competitiveness in India’s textile sector. It will be implemented as a Central Sector Scheme fully funded by the Ministry of Textiles. Total outlay of the scheme is ₹305 crore for FY 2025-26 to FY 2030-31.

Tex-RAMPS includes components such as:

  • Research in smart textiles and sustainability
  • Data and supply-chain analytics
  • Integrated Textiles Statistical System (ITSS)
  • State-level capacity development
  • Start-up and innovation support

National Adoption Awareness Month – November

The National Adoption Awareness Conclave 2025 was organised in Visakhapatnam by Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) under the Ministry of Women & Child Development (MWCD) in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Government. The Conclave was held as part of National Adoption Awareness Month (November) focusing on the 2025 theme: “Non-Institutionalized Rehabilitation of Children with Special Needs (Divyaang Children).”
