UN Troop Contributing Countries (UNTCC) Chiefs’ Conclave 2025
The UN Troop Contributing Countries (UNTCC) Chiefs’ Conclave 2025 was hosted by the Indian Army in New Delhi from October 14 to 16, 2025.
Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi held bilateral meetings with counterparts from Burundi, Tanzania, Poland, Ethiopia, Nepal, and Uganda to boost defence cooperation and coordination in future missions.
Samudra Shakti – 2025
The Indian Navy is hosting the fifth edition of the Indo-Indonesian Bilateral Maritime Exercise ‘Samudra Shakti – 2025’ at Visakhapatnam from 14 to 17 October 2025. The exercise involves INS Kavaratti, an Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette, and KRI John Lie from the Indonesian Navy.
National Cyber Security Awareness Month
October is globally marked as National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) with a view to educate the public, private sector and Government to increase cyber resilience of the nation as recommended by National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS). FASTag Annual Pass crossed 25 lakh users
- The FASTag Annual Pass launched by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on 15 August 2025 has received an overwhelming response, crossing 25 lakh users with over 5.67 crore transactions in just two months.
- The pass offers seamless and economical travel across 1,150 toll plazas on National Highways and Expressways, enhancing the ease of commuting for users.
- Available for non-commercial vehicles, the pass can be availed through a one-time payment of ₹3,000, valid for one year or 200 toll crossings, and is activated within two hours via the Rajmargyatra App or NHAI website.
World Food Day – 16 October
- World Food Day 2025 is observed globally on 16 October to raise awareness about food security, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture.
- The theme for 2025 is “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”, emphasizing global collaboration to build resilient and inclusive agrifood systems.
- India has made remarkable progress in food production, recording a rise of 90 million metric tonnes in foodgrain output and 64 million metric tonnes in fruit and vegetable production over the past decade. The nation now ranks first in milk and millets production, and second in fish, fruit, and vegetable output.
- Government initiatives such as NFSA, PMGKAY, PM POSHAN, Rice Fortification, and SMART-PDS reforms reflect India’s ongoing commitment to ensuring food and nutritional security.

Sustainable Aquaculture in Mangrove Ecosystems (SAIME) model of Sundarbans wins FAO recognition
- A sustainable aquaculture model from the Sundarbans, developed by the Nature Environment and Wildlife Society (NEWS), has received Global Technical Recognition from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
- The recognition was announced on 15 October 2025 during FAO’s 80th Anniversary Celebrations and the World Food Forum in Rome, Italy.
- The model, known as Sustainable Aquaculture in Mangrove Ecosystems (SAIME), promotes climate-adaptive and conservation-linked shrimp farming by maintaining 5%–30% mangrove coverage in aquaculture ponds.
- This model was implemented in West Bengal.
