Prime Minister Visit to Mizoram
PM inaugurated the Bairabi-Sairang new rail line (~51.38 km; 45 tunnels, 55 major + 88 minor bridges) and flagged off Sairang–Delhi (Anand Vihar) Rajdhani, Sairang–Guwahati, Sairang–Kolkata expresses. For the first time state capital region (Sairang, near Aizawl) has been connected to the national network.
Development works ₹9,000+ crore across rail, roads (Aizawl Bypass, Thenzawl–Sialsuk, Khankawn–Rongura), energy (LPG bottling plant), sports (Khelo India hall), and education (EMRS & PMJVK schools).
Prime Minister Visit to Manipur
- PM lays foundation stones worth ₹7,300+ crore at Churachandpur.
- Manipur Urban Roads, drainage & asset-mgmt (~₹3,600 cr), 5 National Highway projects (₹2,500+ cr), MIND (Manipur Infotech Development), and Working Women’s Hostels at 9 locations.
- Rail connectivity expanding: the Jiribam–Imphal rail line (investment ~₹22,000 cr) will connect Imphal to the national network.
Prime Minister Visit to Assam
- The Prime Minister inaugurated the Assam Bioethanol Plant and laid foundation stone for polypropylene plant at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) at Golaghat in Assam.
- Maa Kamakhya Corridor is being developed in Assam.
- A great warrior Veer Lachit Borphukan from Assam.
- A Historical place Rang Ghar in Sivasagar is located in Assam.
World Boxing Championships 2025
- Indian boxer Minakshi won gold medal in the 48kg category at the World Boxing Championships 2025 held in Liverpool.
- Indian boxer Jaismine Lamboriya won gold medal in 75kg category.
Hindi Diwas – 14 September
Hindi Diwas is observed in India on 14 September each year. It commemorates the adoption of Hindi as one of the official languages of the Republic of India. Hindi as official language was decided by the the Munshi-Ayyangar formula, after drafting committee members K. M. Munshi and N. Gopalaswami Ayyangar, was voted by the Constituent Assembly of India.
89th General Meeting of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) announced that India is hosting the 89th General Meeting (GM) of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) from 15 to 19 September 2025 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This is the fourth time India is hosting the prestigious IEC General Meeting, after 1960, 1997 and 2013. Theme of this conference is Fostering a Sustainable World. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) develops international standards for electrical, electronic and related technologies.

Indian Naval Ship Trikand a stealth frigate of the Indian Navy participating maiden Bilateral Maritime exercise between India and Greece at Salamis Bay port.

Prime Minister participated on the 100th birth anniversary of Bhupen Hazarika. Bhupen Hazarika popular songs in Assam are ‘Sudhakantha’ (nectar-voiced) and the ‘Bard of Brahmaputra’.
Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) recently notified Rules, Order and Exemption Order by the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025 operational. It repealed and replaced several Acts, the Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1920; the Registration of Foreigners Act, 1939; the Foreigners Act, 1946 and the Immigration (Carriers’ Liability) Act, 2000.
New Rules:
- The Rules legally designate the Bureau of Immigration (BOI) to “examine cases of immigration fraud” and co-ordinate with the States to identify, deport or restrict the movement of foreigners and collate and maintain an immigration database among others. Earlier Bureau of Immigration (BOI) role was regulatory and not legal.
- New Rule providing legal provision for recording of biometric information of all foreigners.
- Educational institutes will have to inform the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) about all foreign students and even provide semester-wise “academic performance” summary such as attendance details and “general conduct” report.
- Earlier Foreigners Tribunals (FT) are unique to Assam at present the powers has given to a first class judicial magistrate. A total of 100 FTs is currently operational in Assam. FTs are functional only in Assam. In other States, an illegal migrant is produced before a local court.
- The Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force and Assam Rifles also legally allowed to prevent illegal migrants by capturing their biometric information. Earlier these forces had executive orders of the MHA to do the same.
- Immigration and Foreigners (Exemption) Order, 2025: This order exempts Nepalese, Bhutanese and Tibetans from the provisions of the Act. Registered Sri Lankan Tamil nationals who have taken shelter in India up to January 9, 2015 have been exempted from the provisions of sub-sections (1), (2) and (3) of Section 3 (requirement of passport or other travel document or visa) of the 2025 Act. The notification also exempts undocumented members of six minority communities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan from penal provisions and deportation if they entered India without passports or visas, or with expired travel documents, before December 31, 2024.

USA Presideent Donald Trump announced that Kirk would posthumously be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom — the country’s highest civilian honour. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised him as a “lion-hearted friend of Israel”.
