Prime Minister of Mauritius Visited India

The Prime Minister of Mauritius Dr.Navinchandra Ramgoolam visited India to strengthen bilateral relations. Key MoUs during this visit:

  • Memorandum of Understanding between Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and University of Mauritius.
  • Memorandum of Understanding between Indian Institute of Plantation Management, Bengaluru and University of Mauritius
  • NTPC Limited is planning to construct a 17.5 MW Floating Solar PV Project at Tamarind Falls in Mauritius.
  • Government of India will extend budgetary assistance of USD 25mn in the current Financial Year.

Acharya Vinoba Bhave – GK Note

  • Birth–Death: 11 Sept 1895 (Gagode, Maharashtra) – 15 Nov 1982 (Wardha, Maharashtra)
  • Gandhian leader & first “individual satyagrahi” (1940): Chosen by Mahatma Gandhi to launch the Individual Satyagraha against WWII.
  • Founder of Bhoodan (Land-Gift) Movement (1951): Began on 18 April 1951 at Pochampally (now in Telangana) when Vedire Ramachandra Reddy pledged 100 acres.

INS Aravali Naval Base

Indian Navy commissioned INS Aravali at Gurugram in the presence of Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi. INS Aravali, deriving its name from the unwavering Aravali range, shall support various information and communication centres of the Indian Navy which are key to India’s and Indian Navy’s command, control and Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) framework. INS Aravali motto: Maritime Security through Collaboration.

Indian Naval Bases in Andhra Pradesh: INS Satavahana, INS Vishwakarma, INS Circars, INS Dega, INS Virbahu, INHS Kalyani, INS Kalinga, INS Eksila, INS Karna, INS Varsha all these Naval Bases are located in Vishakapatnam. INS Badangi is located in Viziayanagaram.

Samudra Pradakshina

Samudra Pradakshina is first ever Tri-service all-women circumnavigation sailing expedition in the world. Over the next nine months, 10 women officers will sail onboard the Indian Army Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni on an easterly route covering approximately 26,000 nautical miles. They will cross the Equator twice and cover the three great Capes Cape Leeuwin (Australia), Cape Horn (Chile) & Good Hope (South Africa). The team will return to Mumbai in May 2026. The 10-member crew leading by Expedition Leader Lieutenant Colonel Anuja Varudkar.

About Samudra Pradakshina

The circumnavigation will follow the strict norms of the World Sailing Speed Record Council, requiring the crossing of all longitudes, Equator crossings and completion of over 21,600 nautical miles under sail alone, without use of canals or powered transit. Sir Robin Knox-Johnston (UK) was the first to complete a solo non-stop circumnavigation in 1969.

In India, Captain Dilip Donde (Retd) completed the first solo circumnavigation (2009–10) and Commander Abhilash Tomy (Retd) was the first Indian to circumnavigate non-stop in 2012–13. Navika Sagar Parikrama (2017–18) and Navika Sagar Parikrama-II (2024-25) by Indian Navy on INSV Tarini have been previous successful circumnavigation expeditions.

First-ever overseas campus of the IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA)

First ever overseas campus of the IIM Ahmedabad was recently inaugurated in Dubai by Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

India and ADB sign $126.4 million loan agreement

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a $126.42 million loan agreement to promote rural development through sustainable and climate-resilient tourism in the Tehri Lake region of Uttarakhand.

All India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS) & Situation Assessment Survey (SAS) of Agricultural Households

National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is conducting the large-scale household surveys on diverse social and economic subjects, conducted regularly since its inception in 1950. Among these survey two flagship surveys AIDIS and SAS are scheduled to be conducted from July 2026 to June 2027.
