Holistic Development of Districts

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in collaboration with the Government of Bihar organized a National Conference on “Holistic Development of Districts” in Patna on 11–12 September 2025.

Two New Spices found in Western Ghats

Indian scientists from MACS-Agharkar Research Institute (Pune) have identified two new species of black aspergillus fungi from the Western Ghats: Aspergillus dhakephalkarii and Aspergillus patriciawiltshireae. These fungi (Aspergillus section Nigri) are highly significant for industrial applications such as citric acid production, fermentation technology, agriculture, and food mycology.

Adi Sanskriti – A Digital Learning Platform

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched the Beta Version of “Adi Sanskriti”, a digital learning platform for tribal artforms, during the National Conference on Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Key Features of Adi Sanskriti:

  • Adi Vishwavidyalaya (Digital Tribal Art Academy): 45 immersive courses on dance, painting, crafts, music & folklore.
  • Adi Sampada (Socio-Cultural Repository): 5,000+ curated documents covering tribal culture & heritage.
  • Adi Haat (Online Marketplace): Linked with TRIFED, to provide direct consumer access to tribal artisans.

The President of India has given assent to a new law in Manipur

The President of India has given assent to a new law in Manipur regulating the issuance of caste certificates for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs). Introduced in 2024 by the then Biren Singh government amid ethnic conflict. Objective: Prevent fraudulent caste claims & bring uniformity in the issuance process.

  • Manipur has: 7 SC communities, 4 OBC communities, and 31% reservation for STs, 17% for OBCs, 2% for SCs.
  • The law sets up Scrutiny Committees with suo motu powers to verify suspicious certificates.
  • Their decision is final, appealable only in the High Court.
  • Similar laws exist in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh (District Collectors can suo motu verify in AP).

India’s largest PCB manufacturing unit

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the establishment of a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacturing facility by Syrma Strategic Electronics Pvt. Ltd. (SSEPL) at Menakuru village, Naidupeta, Tirupati district. It is India’s largest PCB manufacturing unit. This is the First project under the Electronics Components Manufacturing & Supply (ECMS) Policy 2025–30.
