World Cooperative Monitor Report 2025
The World Cooperative Monitor 2025 report, released by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and EURICSE, is the 13th edition of an annual study on the world’s largest cooperatives and mutuals. According to this report Amul and IFFCO, both from India, ranked first and second globally based on turnover relative to GDP per capita.

Vijayanagara-era Gold Coins Unearthed in Tamil Nadu
A rare archaeological discovery was made in Tiruvannamalai district, Tamil Nadu, where 103 punch-marked gold coins dating back nearly 600 years to the Vijayanagara Empire were unearthed. The coins were found in an earthen pot during restoration work at a Later Chola-era Shiva temple located in Kovilur hamlet near Jamunamarathur village atop the Jawadhu Hills.
New Species of Jumping Spider Discovered in Chikkamagaluru
Researchers have identified a new species of jumping spider belonging to the Pilia genus in the Western Ghats. The species, named Pilia malenadu, was discovered in Chikkamagaluru district, Karnataka.

Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI)
The Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) is a major Central Government initiative aimed at increasing capital expenditure (CapEx) by state governments. It provides long-term, 50-year interest-free loans to states to encourage infrastructure development, public capital creation, and economic growth.
Key Highlights of SASCI
Interest-Free Loan for 50 Years: States receive long-term, interest-free loans specifically for capital investment projects.
- ₹1 lakh crore allocated in 2022-23
- ₹1.3 lakh crore allocated in 2023-24
- ₹1.3 lakh crore allocated for 2024-25 under a redesigned structure

- Public facilities and state-level capital projects
Note:
Andhra Pradesh so far received ₹2,010 crore under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, which is being used for projects like strengthening rural roads.
