Karnataka Records Highest-Ever Organ Donations in 2025

State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO), Karnataka’s nodal agency for cadaver organ donation, recorded 198 organ donations in 2025, the highest-ever for the State. This surpasses the earlier peak of 178 donations in 2023. With this achievement, Karnataka ranked third nationally in organ donations in 2025, after Tamil Nadu (267) and Telangana (205).

Indian Army has signed a contract with Israel to buy Long-range rocket launcher

Under emergency procurement powers, the Indian Army has signed a ₹293-crore contract with NIBE Ltd., a Pune-based private defence manufacturer, in collaboration with Israel’s Elbit Systems, for the supply of an advanced long-range rocket launcher system.

  • The system, named Suryastra (SURYA), is India’s first Made-in-India universal multi-calibre rocket launcher.
  • It is capable of launching rockets with strike ranges of 150 km and 300 km, significantly boosting the Army’s deep-strike artillery firepower.
  • Suryastra can engage multiple targets simultaneously at different ranges with very high precision, achieving a Circular Error Probable (CEP) of less than 5 metres during trials.
