Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY)
The Union Government has proposed continuing the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY) from 2026–27 to 2030–31 with an enhanced financial outlay. The proposal aims to expand infrastructure, livelihood, and educational support for Scheduled Caste communities. The continuation and enhanced outlay are proposals and have not yet been described as finally approved.
PM-AJAY is a 100% Centrally Sponsored Scheme implemented since 2021–22. It was created by merging three earlier schemes and operates through three components: Adarsh Gram, Grants-in-Aid for district and State-level projects, and construction of hostels.

IIITDM Kurnool Tops All Four National 5G Lab Award Categories
The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kurnool, secured first position in all four categories of the 5G Labs Excellence Awards for cumulative performance during January–June 2026. The awards were presented by Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia during a review meeting of the Bharat 6G Alliance in New Delhi.
IIITDM Kurnool ranked first in the 5G Lab Excellence Award, 5G Lab Utilisation Excellence Award, 5G Lab Engagement Excellence Award and 5G Lab Innovation Excellence Award categories. IIITDM Kurnool’s laboratory was among the 100 5G Use Case Labs inaugurated during the India Mobile Congress in 2023.
Fields Medals 2026
The International Mathematical Union (IMU) announced the four recipients of the 2026 Fields Medals at the International Congress of Mathematicians held in Philadelphia, United States, on July 23, 2026. The Fields Medal is presented every four years for outstanding mathematical achievement and the promise of future contributions.
The 2026 Fields Medal recipients are:
- Hong Wang — New York University
- Yu Deng — University of Chicago
- John Pardon — Stony Brook University
- Jacob Tsimerman — University of Toronto
The Fields Medal was first awarded in 1936 and is named after Canadian mathematician John Charles Fields. No more than four Fields Medals may be awarded at one International Congress of Mathematicians.

Indian para-athlete Sharmila Dhankar won the gold medal in the women’s shot put F57 event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. She registered a season-best throw of 9.81 metres, becoming the first Indian para-athlete to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal. Her victory also ended India’s 20-year wait for a Commonwealth Games medal in para-athletics. India secured a double podium finish in the event as Shilpa K. Shyla won the bronze medal with a personal-best throw of 7.26 metres.
Valluri Ajaya Babu Wins Weightlifting Silver at Glasgow 2026
Indian weightlifter Valluri Ajaya Babu won the silver medal in the men’s 79 kg category at the 2026 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland. The 21-year-old athlete from Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh, registered a total lift of 330 kg.
Sarvesh Kushare Wins Historic Commonwealth Games High Jump Silver
Indian athlete Sarvesh Kushare won the silver medal in the men’s high jump at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. He cleared 2.25 metres in the final, becoming the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games silver medal in the men’s high jump.
