Annadata Sukhibhava–PM Kisan Scheme

The Government of Andhra Pradesh released the first instalment of financial assistance under the Annadata Sukhibhava–PM Kisan Scheme for the financial year 2026–27, benefiting nearly 46.86 lakh farmer families across the State.

Highlights

• Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the disbursement from Linganguntla village in Palnadu district.
• A total of ₹3,125.47 crore was directly transferred to the bank accounts of 46,85,838 eligible farmer families.
• Beneficiaries included 45,69,817 land-owning farmers and 1,16,021 farmers cultivating land under the Recognition of Forest Rights (RoFR) Act.
• Every eligible farmer family will receive ₹20,000 per year.
• The scheme is one of the major welfare initiatives under the Government’s Super Six commitments.

Andhra Pradesh Government Signs MoU with Canva Platform

The School Education Department of Andhra Pradesh and Samagra Shiksha signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Canva, a global online design platform, to strengthen digital learning, creativity, and technology integration in government schools across the State.

World Bank Approves $1.5 Billion Financing for India

The World Bank approved $1.5 billion in financing for India under its Development Policy Financing (DPF) Operation to support structural reforms aimed at boosting private sector-led job creation and economic growth.

Four High-Risk Glacial Lakes in Arunachal Pradesh Expanded

A satellite-based assessment conducted by Suhora Technologies found that four out of five high-risk glacial lakes in the Mago Chu Basin of Tawang district, Arunachal Pradesh, expanded between 2016 and 2026, highlighting the need for continuous monitoring of potential Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) risks.

Highlights

• The assessment analysed five glacial lakes classified as “High Risk” or “Very High Risk” by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
• Four lakes expanded, while one remained largely stable.
• Sanhapo Lake showed the most significant expansion. The lake expanded by nearly 10 hectares during the period.

A Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) is a sudden release of water from a glacial lake due to the failure of a moraine dam, avalanches, landslides etc.

Indian Athletics Awards

The inaugural Indian Athletics Awards were held to recognise outstanding performances and contributions to Indian athletics. Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra and middle-distance runner Parul Chaudhary were named the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) Athletes of the Year 2025 in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.

India emerged as the champions of the Women’s FIH Hockey Nations Cup, securing the title and earning qualification for the next season of the FIH Pro League.

• The Women’s FIH Hockey Nations Cup was founded in 2019.
• The first edition of the tournament was held in December 2022.
• The inaugural tournament was hosted in Valencia, Spain.
