Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh

Prime Minister launched the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited on 2nd September.

The objective of establishing the Jeevika Nidhi is to provide easy access to funds at affordable interest rates to community members associated with Jeevika. All registered cluster-level federations of Jeevika will become the members of the Society.

Department of Posts Signs MoU with ESRI India to Strengthen the DIGIPIN

Under this MoU, DoP will use ESRI India’s high-resolution imagery and street basemaps for its DIGIPIN portal. ESRI India will provide technical support to the DoP for seamless integration of their services for DIGIPIN.

DIGIPIN

• DIGIPIN is a nationwide geo-coded addressing system developed by the Department of Posts in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad.
• It divides India into approximately 4m x 4m grids and assigns each grid a unique 10-character alphanumeric code based on latitude and longitude coordinates.

Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) 2025

• The Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) is an annual event organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
• This year, the 25th edition of GSR–25 being hosted by the Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.
• Theme “Regulation for sustainable digital development”.

India Post Payments Bank Celebrates 8th Foundation Day

• India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has been established under the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communication with 100% equity owned by Government of India.
• IPPB was launched on September 1, 2018. The IPPB headquarters located in New Delhi.
• The bank has been set up with the vision to build the most accessible, affordable and trusted bank for the common man in India.

Niveshak Didi- Phase II

• The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), under the aegis of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, successfully launched Phase II of its flagship financial literacy initiative – Niveshak Didi at Hyderabad.
• The first Phase was started in November 2022 in Jammu & kashmir.

Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025

This year 21st Edition of the India-USA Joint Military Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025 was scheduled from 1st to 1th September 2025. This exercise held at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, USA.

Indian Railways & State Bank of India Signed MoU

• Indian Railways & State Bank of India Signed MoU to enhance insurance benifits for railway employees.
• complimentary insurance covers under this MoU include: Air Accident Insurance (Death) Cover of ₹1.60 crore plus an additional up to ₹1.00 crore on RuPay Debit Card; Personal Accident (Permanent Total Disablement) Cover of ₹1.00 crore; and Personal Accident (Permanent Partial Disability) Cover of up to ₹80 lakh.

India’s PRATUSH Mission

A team from Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bengaluru, has developed PRATUSH (Probing ReionizATion of the Universe using Signal from Hydrogen), a first-of-its-kind radio telescope designed to study the Cosmic Dawn – the epoch when the first stars and galaxies formed.

About PRATUSH

• Purpose: Detect the faint 21-cm hydrogen signal carrying imprints of the Universe’s first stars.
• Location: Proposed lunar far-side orbit (the most radio-quiet region, free from Earth’s interference and ionospheric distortion).
• Uses a compact single-board computer (SBC)

Adi Vaani – India’s First AI-Powered Tribal Language Translation Platform

• The Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched the Beta Version of Adi Vaani, India’s first AI-powered translation platform for tribal languages, at Samrasta Hall, Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
• The launch was part of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh (JJGV) celebrations.

About Adi Vaani

• Objective: Preserve tribal languages, empower communities, and improve access to education, healthcare, governance, and entrepreneurship in native languages.
• Developed by: IIT Delhi, in collaboration with BITS Pilani, IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Nava Raipur, and Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) of Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Meghalaya.
• Languages supports Santali (Odisha), Bhili (Madhya Pradesh), Mundari (Jharkhand), and Gondi (Chhattisgarh).

Vikramaditya Vedic Clock

• Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, launched the ‘Vedic Clock’ and its mobile app in Bhopal.
• The clock connects the Hindu Panchang (religious calendar) and traditional time calculation with modern technology.
• The mobile app version is available in 189 languages.
• Note: World’s first Vikramaditya Vedic Clock was located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.

Mizoram to Get First Broad-Gauge Railway Line

• Prime Minister will inaugurate the 51.38 km Bairabi–Sairang broad-gauge line in the second week of September 2025.
• Project cost: ₹5,021 crore.
• Line connects Silchar in Assam via Bhodahpur Junction.

Brahmaputra Multi-threaded (braided) River

Researchers from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) have uncovered the physical mechanism that explains why some rivers flow as a single-thread channel while others split into multi-threaded (braided) systems.

Key Findings

• Single-thread rivers: Maintain balance between bank erosion and bar accretion (deposition on opposite banks).
• Multi-thread rivers: Erosion rates are higher than deposition, causing channels to widen and split repeatedly, making them fundamentally unstable.
• Method: Analysed 84 rivers worldwide over 36 years (1985–2021) using Landsat satellite images and a technique called particle image velocimetry.
• The Brahmaputra was found to be a classic braided river.

CEREBO – Portable Tool for Brain Injury Detection

• CEREBO is a novel, hand-held, portable, non-invasive diagnostic tool for detecting Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs).
• Developed indigenously through a collaboration of ICMR, AIIMS Bhopal, NIMHANS Bengaluru.

World badminton championships 2026

• The next edition of the World Badminton Championships will be hosted by India in August 2026.
• Announcement made during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Championships in Paris.
• Venue: New Delhi.
