MeitY Launches Free ‘YUVA AI for ALL’ Course
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched ‘YUVA AI for ALL’, a first-of-its-kind free Artificial Intelligence (AI) introductory course under the IndiaAI Mission. The course is available free of cost on platforms like FutureSkills Prime and iGOT Karmayogi, and offers an official Government of India certificate upon completion.
South India Natural Farming Summit 2025
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The PM encouraged farmers to adopt the practice of “One Acre, One Season” to experiment with natural farming before scaling up.
World Toilet Day 2025
World Toilet Day 2025 is being observed with the global theme “Sanitation: Collective Responsibility for Dignity and Planet.” According to the 2024 Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) report by WHO and UNICEF, nearly 55 million urban residents in India have gained access to safely managed and improved sanitation facilities within the past two years.
India Launches First Indigenous CRISPR Gene Therapy for Sickle Cell Disease
India has achieved a major milestone in healthcare and genomic medicine with the launch of its first indigenous CRISPR-based gene therapy for Sickle Cell Disease. The therapy was named after Bhagwan Birsa Munda “BIRSA 101”. This innovation takes India closer to eliminating Sickle Cell Disease by 2047, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of a Sickle Cell–Free India.
NITI Aayog Releases Report on Water Budgeting in Aspirational Blocks
NITI Aayog has released a new report titled “Water Budgeting in Aspirational Blocks”, aimed at promoting sustainable local water management across India.
Highlights:
- The report introduces a block-level water budgeting framework using Varuni, a web-based platform for water security planning.
- Water budgeting evaluates demand across sectors such as human use, livestock, industry, and agriculture, while assessing supply from sources like runoff, surface water, and groundwater.
- It provides customised strategies for 18 Aspirational Blocks located in 11 States and 8 agro-climatic zones, highlighting diverse water availability challenges.
- The tool supports data-driven governance, encourages community participation, and identifies water consumption hotspots before reaching critical levels.
- The report was prepared in collaboration with GIZ India and other water resource institutions.
