India–Belgium Strengthen Strategic, Economic and Defence Cooperation

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever paid an official visit to India from 2–4 September 2026, his first visit to India since assuming office in February 2025. During talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both sides reviewed cooperation in trade, investment, defence, technology, renewable energy, mobility, education and multilateral affairs. The two countries will mark the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027.

Amaravati Sangamam project

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, approved administrative sanction for the ₹759 crore Amaravati Sangamam project at Sakhamuru. The project will include the Andhra Pradesh State Public Library, an auditorium and the Global Institute of Good Governance.

Andhra Pradesh Poultry Development Policy 2025–29

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved the draft Andhra Pradesh Poultry Development Policy 2025–29 to strengthen the State’s poultry sector through modern infrastructure, improved biosecurity, lower production costs and greater value addition. The policy seeks to support both commercial poultry farms and rural/backyard poultry activities.

A key focus of the policy is the promotion of Environment Controlled Poultry Sheds, along with stronger disease surveillance, biosecurity and traceability. For this purpose, registration of poultry farms is proposed to be made mandatory, enabling better monitoring of poultry units and disease outbreaks.

Ms. magazine co-founder Gloria Steinem Passed Away

Gloria Steinem, pioneering American feminist activist, journalist and author, died on 2 September 2026 at the age of 92 in New York. She was one of the most influential figures of the second-wave feminist movement and spent more than six decades campaigning for gender equality, reproductive rights and women’s political participation. Steinem was a co-founder of Ms. magazine, launched in the early 1970s as an influential platform for feminist journalism.
